Inlay & Onlay Restorations

Inlays and onlays serve as a middle ground for teeth that are too damaged to be fully restored with a filling but don’t quite require a full crown, which is why they are sometimes referred to as “partial crowns.” They are both made of a tooth-colored porcelain, and an inlay is used to restore the internal structure of a tooth while an onlay is used to repair the cusps (or the chewing surface). With them, we’re able to repair the teeth while preserving more of their natural structure, which will help them stay stronger over time.
